Canon 7D MkII Leaked With New 400mm And New Pancake Lens

Ahead of the widely assumed Monday announcement of the long-awaited Canon 7D MkII, photos and a supposedly confirmed spec list have appeared on several rumour websites. Alongside the 7D MKII, Canon look set to launch a new version of the 400mm f/4 DO IS as well as an EF-S 24mm f/2.8 pancake and a 24-105 f/3.5-5.6. After years of wild speculation on the 7D’s specs, there isn’t really anything surprising about them at all. A Canon DSLR finally gets the ability to record 1080p at 60fps though, they added an intervalometer for timelapse and they included GPS in the camera. …

Awesome Summer Deal At LensCoat – Free International Shipping

I haven’t felt compelled to write about too many sales and deals recently on here but one landed in my in-box today that I’m going to take advantage of myself so I’m sure some of you guys won’t want to miss it either! LensCoat make all kinds of camera and lens covers for just about any camera/lens combination you can think of. I own a fair few items from them, including things like the TravelCoat for my Canon 200-400. I also have a box full of camera body covers with and without lenses, which I use for packing on big …

Red Bull Divide & Conquer 2014

This past weekend I was in Vancouver, BC to shoot for Red Bull and their Content Pool during their Adventure Race, Divide & Conquer. The race saw teams of three run up a mountain, bike back down it again and then kayak through North Vancouver and out in to the Pacific Ocean. Weather conditions were nearly perfect and after a 10am start I spend the next few hours chasing the competitors around to the finish line. My main duties were to capture the start, get a few shots of the runners reaching the top of Grouse Mountain and the run/bike …

Elegant Themes – Divi 2.0 – WordPress Theme Follow Up

Divi Discounts Important Message – Please Read! Hello Elegant Themes Blog Readers Many of you reading this will be coming to it from my guest post over on the Elegant Themes blog where I talked about why I chose to use the Divi theme to build my website. Well, eagle-eyed people might spot immediately that I am no longer using Divi, and in fact, Im now using Elegant Themes’ other Divi-based theme called EXTRA. Here’s why… Divi was, actually still is, revolutionary for people like me. Someone who cases A LOT about the visuals of their site, but doesn’t have …

Sony Introduces The Pocket Camera I’ve Always Dreamed Of……

I can count the number of times I’ve been compelled to write about a point and shoot camera on the fingers of one hand. Today though, Sony have launched the RX100 MKIII and within this diminutive little package lies one single feature that is the sole key to my excitement; an electronic viewfinder. In theory I like to have access to a decent point and shoot camera whenever I’m out and about. It makes for an excellent way to grab images for social media, blog and newsletter consumption. My problem with any compact camera has always been the lack of …

Canon Launches A New 16-35 f/4 L IS

I’ve been using the Canon 17-40 f/4 L for 10 years. It was actually the first lens that I bought with my first DSLR, a Canon 10D. That thing has been a workhorse for me, but there’s room for improvement in the corner image quality so I’m hoping that’s what we’ll see from this new lens just announced by Canon. I’d guess that this is a replacement to the old 17-40, though it’s not mentioned as such directly. Of course, there is also the 16-35 f2.8 L II, but the addition of a 4-stop image stabilizer to this new lens …

My Short-Lived Experiment With File Transporter & Why I’m Switching To Google Drive

I’m not quite sure what to call this product….. Transporter? File Transporter? Drobo Transporter? Their website is www.filetransporter.com, as is their twitter account, but they refer to themselves as Transporter, though they are now owned by Drobo. B&H does list the item as Drobo Transporter though. Confusing. The Transporter is a device for creating your own cloud storage so that you can be free from the monthly payments of services like Dropbox and Google Drive. I’ve watched the development of the Transporter with great interest. The company that makes it, Connected Data, was founded by Geoff Barrall who used to …

New Free eBook Available – Canon 200-400 Extended Review

Since my review of the stellar Canon 200-400 has been very popular I’ve launched a slightly extended version with extra images as a free eBook. The book is available in either PDF format or iBook through my website Shutter Muse HERE. I much prefer browsing images on a tablet device, and I love the way this review looks on iPads and Android tablets.
