Want Something for Free?

You know, I can’t honestly remember if I ever mentioned this to you guys over here on my personal blog… Over on ShutterMuse.com, where I’m putting all my longer articles and reviews these days, I actually have a 100-page eBook that I give away for free. It’s called 10 Incredible Tools For Professional Photographers, and it details ten tools (duh!) and best practices for helping to run a profitable and professional business. Yes it’s true that it’s only really relevant to those of you who have aspirations of making money from your photos, though. There will be something for everyone …

Photo on NBC Nightly News

A couple of months ago I posted about how I shot the Blood Moon solar eclipse. I was just digging through my email inbox today and I found an email from one of the producers at NBC who kindly sent me a link to the new spot that briefly features one of my blood moon photos. You can view the spot HERE. For those that don’t live in the US (that includes me), Nightly News on NBC is currently the highest rated nightly news show with over 9 million viewers every week. Interview with Mylio

Mylio is a company that makes organizational software for photographers. Full disclosure: I’ve never used it, so this isn’t meant in any way to be an endorsement of their product or service. They did want to interview me about my photography, though, and you can now read the interview on the Mylio website here.

Lat time this event occurred, I posted a detailed tutorial about how to shoot it and process the results …

Once you commit to going down this path, you’re in it for life in some way or other. There’s always new techniques to explore, and your style will change and mature over time. A couple of years ago I’d never aimed a lens at an animal before, but Instagram opened my eyes to some …

Sad News From IndyCar

As a motorsport fan, and sometime motorsport photographer, it’s a sad day when someone gets killed doing what they love. Today is one of those days as we hear the news that British IndyCar driver, Justin Wilson, has succumbed to the head injuries he sustained yesterday at the Pocono Raceway…

Notes from a month on the road

Having recently spent a month away from my home and office, I thought I’d write down a few notes about photography “on the road”. That kind of time away from usual surroundings is a surefire way to reveal weaknesses in workflow and gear, and a few things stood out to me so I thought I’d share them.
