You can finally download the previously announced V2 firmware for the Canon 7D HERE from Canon. The press release below walks you through all the changes and if you are a 7D shooter then you are going to be feeling pretty good about now. Canon Makes Mirrorless Official – EOS M

Canon’s ship is typically a leaky one so we’ve had full specs and photos of this camera for a few days now. Today though Canon officially launched their EOS-M mirrorless camera platform. Canon are last to the mirrorless market amongst the big players and on paper they have come out with an impressive package. Most noticeably, the camera is TINY. It is actually smaller than the Panasonic GF5 Mirco Fourthirds camera but critically it packs a full APS-C sized sensor and not a smaller M 4/3 one. An 18MP APS-C sensor no less. The camera will begin shipping with either …

Canon’s Mirrorless Camera Leaked – EOS M

Canon are finally making the jump into the mirrorless market and the first images of the first camera, expected to be officially launched on Sunday night, have leaked onto the internet via DigicameInfo and Canon Rumors. Details are relatively thin on the ground at the moment but what is clear is that this camera has a pretty big sensor (probably APS-C) and the camera itself is TINY. We’re talking the size of a G1 X here. It will also ship with a 22mm f2.0 lens which would be close to a 35mm equivalent if the sensor is indeed APS-C. What …

Canon’s On Screen EOS-1D X User Guides

Here’s a little interesting piece of Canon news regarding the EOS-1D X.  Canon has launched a series of videos guides which are designed to be played back on the camera.  You can download the videos right HERE and then load them onto a memory card to keep out in the field with you or on a trip.  The EOS-1D X shares a lot of the functionality of the EOS 5D Mark III and having used that camera for a few months now I can tell you that it is probably the first camera I’ve ever owned where I absolutely NEEDED …

Panasonic Launches The DMC-G5

Another M4/3 camera has joined the fray today from Panasonic. Those hoping to see some modicum of weather sealing to match the new Lumix X lenses will be disappointed though. So it remains then that if you shoot Panasonic you can only weather seal the lens and not the camera which is very odd. I guess they are saving that for a GH-3 which we might see at Photokina, in the mean time though everyone is going out and buying an Olympus O-MD E-M5 instead. The standout feature in this announcement for me though is the fact that it can …

Nikon Announces Development Of 800mm f5.6 Lens

Oh dear….. Nikon has started to do what Canon has been doing with these semi-announcements, or ‘development announcements’. In other words we are told that this lens is coming but other than the fact that it has an 800mm focal length, an f5.6 aperture and VR we have no further info. No idea on price or when it might be shipping and we’ll likely see a ‘proper’ announcement later in the year, most likely at Photokina where the lens will be on display. Canon have had an 800mm f5.6 for some time now and given that Canon has played catch …
