Please head on over to my post on ProPhoto Coalition for the full article.

Adobe Launches Lightroom 4 Beta

Adobe has opened up a free public beta for Lightroom 4.  Once downloaded, users will be able to use LR4 for free until March 31st.  For users of Lightroom 3 it looks to be a fairly gentle upgrade so far, though Adobe have been known to keep back some killer features until launch time.  The biggest feature, that I guess we were all expecting, is the ability to make simple adjustments to videos.  Exposure, tone, contrast and white balance can all be adjusted and the files can be trimmed.   You can download the free beta HERE on the Adobe …

It’s not out yet but you can already pre-order the new Fuji lenses to go with the upcoming X-Pro 1 camera. Pre-Orders There’s no doubt in my mind that this is going to be THE camera to get for 2012.  When the X100 was launched it was in high demand for many months.  Hard to get hold of after even six months!  There’s a very good chance this camera will go the same way so if you are even considering picking one up then I would urge you to place a pre-order to avoid the wait.  Amazon will NOT charge …

Via The Digital Picture these lenses are now expected to be available in April.  Originally they were scheduled for “before the end of 2011” but things slipped.  I have my eye on picking up the 500mm myself so I’m really waiting for this one.  Hopefully I get to have a hands-on look at one during CES next week in Las Vegas.

Canon Cinema EOS Cine Lenses In Development

Shortly after the launch of the Canon C300 I interviewed one of Canon’s technical staff about the camera.  At the time he mentioned to me that on top of the announced 3 EOS Cine prime lenses there were also two more in development.  One wider and one longer.  I now have a photo of these two prototype lenses, see below.  It’s rare that unannounced lenses are shown so I thought it well worth a mention.  No focal length is known at the moment, if I had to guess I would say 100mm or 135mm and 18mm? On top of these …
