Thank You! Top 100 Photography Blogs!

I’m pleased to say that once again, my little blog has been listed in the top 100 photography blog list over at Feedspot. It humbles me to see it listed there amongst so many people who I respect so much, and draw so much inspiration from. Thanks to everyone that continues to read my ramblings, and make sure you also check out my other website, Shutter Muse, for long-form reviews and photo tutorials.

Shout-Out to Black Diamond – Treating Customers Right!

In the past I’ve mentioned a variety of customer service experiences on this blog because I think these things should be factored into purchasing decisions. I often find similar products from competing brands at roughly similar price points, so it’s good to know how a company will react to a warranty issue, or simply a technical support query. Since I have a voice on this blog, I’m happy to occasionally share these experiences so that you can keep them in mind when spending your hard-earned money. I recently purchased a set of Black Diamond gaiters for hiking, and unfortunately one …

Back From Banff

I spent much of the last week exploring the Canadian Rockies around Banff and Jasper National Parks. Whilst the wildlife encounters I was hoping for didn’t really materialize, I did get some excellent landscape photography opportunities along the Icefields Parkway, and also in the Kananaskis Valley which is an area that I think gets photographically overlooked by a lot of photographers. You can read here about a few new products that I took with me for testing along the route. I’ll be sharing some new landscape images very shortly in the Behind the Shot series, but for now, I thought …

Instagram Takeover for MindShift Gear

I recently did an Instagram Takeover on the MindShift Gear Instagram page and I thought I’d share the images and descriptions here with you guys as well. My simple aim for the series of images was to show a small variety of my work, and also talk about which MindShift Gear products helped me in those specific instances. Over the past few years, several of MindShift’s carrying solutions have become an integral part of my work.   Day 1 Hey folks! My name is @dancarrphoto and I’m a professional adventure, landscape and wildlife photographer from Whistler in British Columbia. As …

Banff Bound & Other Updates from a Busy Week

I thought I’d just write a bit of a general post here so you guys know what I’ve been up to. Since wrapping up the 5DayDeal I took a few days off work and then I’ve been hard at work preparing for a re-design of my Shutter Muse website. I’ll shortly be launching my new Photo Mechanic video course for sale on that site, but before I do that, we needed to implement some new systems to allow people to securely log in and watch the 60+ course videos without needing to download them all. I’ve also been talking to …

Introducing: Photo Mechanic Unlocked

I’m really excited to unveil a totally new video training series today called Photo Mechanic Unlocked. I’ve been using Photo Mechanic for many years now, and there’s a very good reason whey you’ll see this software running on nearly every computer screen when you walk into the media centre of any major event: SPEED. This amazing piece of software can totally transform your workflow! The one downside of Photo Mechanic, if you can really call it a downside, is that it has so many features, some of them get a bit lost. A lot of photographers don’t unearth all of these …
