Zeiss launches new Milvus line of lenses

Every now and again a nice new lens comes along, but it’s rare for an entire range of lenses to be launched simultaneously unless it’s for a new mount.  Zeiss surprised a lot of people this week with the launch of the new Milvus lens lineup which included 6 new lenses as follows: Zeiss Milvus 21mm f/2.8 ZE Zeiss Milvus 35mm f/2 ZE Zeiss Milvus 50mm f/1.4 ZE Zeiss Milvus 50mm f/2 ZE Zeiss Milvus 85mm f/1.4 ZE Zeiss Milvus 100mm f/2 ZE They certainly look the part, and Zeiss’ recent offerings have been very well received.  It’ll also be interesting

$4000 Carl Zeiss Otus 55mm f/1.4 Launched

Carl Zeiss have finally launched the much talked about 55mm f/1.4 lens previously described by them as ‘no compromise’.  It marks the beginning of a new lines of lenses for them, to be called Otus, and it comes in a Canon or Nikon mount for the hefty price tag of $4000.  I’ve had my hands on one of these lenses in New York last year and even though that was a very pre-production model the results appeared impressive.  Moreover, the build quality was like nothing I have ever seen on a DSLR lens, it certainly felt more like a cine

New Line Of Zeiss Lenses Coming For Canon & Nikon – First Is Distagon 55mm f1.4

Zeiss issued an interesting press release this morning that revealed some future plans prior to the Photokina show next week. As well as revealing that they will produce some mirrorless system lenses next year , they unveiled the first in a new line of lenses for full frame Canon and Nikon cameras.  The first will be the Distagon 55mm f1.4 and it is pegged as a lens family for ‘demanding users’.  In other words this is going to be bomb-proof but also incredibly expensive.

Zeiss Shows m4/3 and Sony E-Mount for CP.2 Primes

Down at the Carl Zeiss booth this morning I got to check out the full range of Zeiss CP.2 primes on various cameras including the new M4/3 mount for the AF-100 and also an E-Mount for the Sony NXCAM 35.  These lenses really are stunning and solidly built.  Check out some shots below to see the new Sony cameras and some of the lenses including the Zeiss LWZ.2 zoom lens with a Canon mount.
