Think Tank Announces New Versions Of Their Modular Components

Today Think Tank Photo has revealed a completely new re-design of their extremely popular, dare I say industry standard, Modular lineup. I have previously reviewed the Modular Skin Set and found it to be fantastic for sports and event work so I’m excited to see the improvements they have made. Two Lineups Updated With this update Think Tank are releasing the Modular Rotation System and Modular Rotation System Skin™ Components. These are the same two systems that we had previously but with updated pouches across the board. The Skin system as I mentioned lacks the padding of the regular Modular …

GoPro Launches New HD Hero2

GoPro have launched the new HD Hero2 today with several interesting new features. Most important for me is that the 170 degree field of view is now available in full 1920×1080 resolution. They have also addressed the terrible menu system from the previous version and replaced it with a much more user friendly version, though still only operated by the two button system as before. Initial reports say that low light performance is NOT greatly improved over the previous version despite what GoPro says, but the overall sharpness of the image in normal situations is much better. Another handy new …

Canon EOS-1D X Tech Note: No AF with f8 Lenses

I wanted make a brief post to mention this information that was pointed out to me by my friend Colby Brown. It used to be the case that only Canon 1-series cameras could focus with lenses with a minimum aperture of f8. It was a feature that set them apart and above the rest of the lineup, albeit only the center AF point worked. Now Canon doesn’t manufacture any lenses that have such a small minimum aperture natively but there are plenty of ways to get there by using extenders. The newly announced Canon EOS-1D X (their new flagship!) DOES …

Canon Launches Stunning New EOS-1D X

The long awaited successor to the EOS-1D Mark IV. As predicted by many, the new EOS-1DX brings with it a full frame sensor, something which many pros have been asking for and something which Nikon have had for some time in the D3 and D3s. It had been rumored that the camera would be an amalgamation of the 1D and 1Ds lines. We can now confirm that the EOS-1Ds Mark III is discontinued. I guess we might be seeing the EOS 5D MarkIII taking over the reigns more officially as the large megapixel camera in the lineup (when it gets …

Canon’s November 3rd Announcement

Less than a month now until Canon make their ‘Historical Announcement” in Hollywood. I’ve received an invitation myself but unfortunately can’t attend. The location of the event clearly signifies a video announcement and NOT a photographic one. Those of you who are eagerly awaiting a Canon 5dMK3 can take a seat, this is NOT going to appear on this date. It’s fairly safe to say that we are going to see a large sensor, interchangeable lens video camera. Canon have taken their time over this product so we ought to see something pretty special here. The launch of the 5dMK2 …

Where Have I Been !? Petit Le Mans.

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of posting last week!  I have been away shooting another big motorsports event.  My post earlier in the year about my trip to France to shoot the Le Mans 24 Hours was very popular.  Well this time I was shooting an event called the Petit Le Mans, a 10 hour race featuring the same cars. Update: Unfortunately this gallery is no longer available.
