Let Me Tell You About My Unexpected Life

This year I had the great pleasure of working with Whistler Blackcomb on a short film project as one of the subjects their Choose to Be film series. This series of six videos explores the lives of people that in the Whistler valley, and the choices they made that defined their lives. My journey from Aerospace Engineer in England to outdoor, adventure and wildlife photographer in Canada, is an interesting one, and I’m so pleased to be able to share some of that in such an interesting and visually stunning way. Huge thanks to my good friend Jeff Thomas for …

Whistler Blackcomb ad campaign – Part 2

The second part of the 2010/11 year Whistler Blackcomb ad campaign was shot back in April.  I wrote about the first part HERE a couple of weeks ago.  This time it was not specifically the mountains that were the subject, but the snowboarders that use it.  This photo was to be used for the advertising in the major snowboard magazines around the world so we teamed up with some of the best riders out there.  The Sandbox film crew came in with a few riders to film for their new snowboard movie called Now You Know and Red Bull brought in a second helicopter to shoot some follow cam footage.

Deep Winter Photo Challenge – The Aftermath

A couple of months ago I was invited to take part in the Deep Winter photo challenge here in Whistler, BC. The idea behind the competition is that 5 invited photographers assemble a team of riders to shoot with for 3 days and the resulting photos are combined into a slideshow of approximately 3 minutes. We shot the photos between the 6th and 8th of January and

Opening day at Whistler Blackcomb

The day that this town has been waiting for finally arrived. I’m going to keep this post short, it speaks for itself. Were the conditions great up there? No , far from it. Was it great to be back on skis? Ohhhhh yes. Judging by the height of the snow pack , we are still a couple or three weeks from being ready to get go filming and shooting round here but it’s on its way. The new Peak to Peak gondola system is an incredible feat of engineering and I will be attending the official opening on December 12th.

Whistler Blackcomb Ad – Peak To Peak

I sold a photo to Whistler Blackcomb recently for them to use in an advert for the new Peak to Peak gondola. If you haven’t heard of the gondola project check it out here. The gondola spans the valley between Whistler and Blackcomb mountain and will be officially opened this winter. The clever part is in the design though, it’s only held up by four lift towers on its 2.8 mile length leaving a 1.88 mile length in the middle completely unsupported! This is the shot of Marshal Talbot that was used. It was shot on Whistler mountain this past
