Ok guys, you asked for it….. I’m always getting people wandering about the gear I use so without further delay here is part 1. A quick video to show you my lighting kit in my Pelican 1610 case. Below is also a list of whats in the case and some photos too. Bonus!
In the case:
- Elinchrom Ranger RX
- Elinchrom Ranger “A” head
- 4 x Nikon SB80DX
- 4x Vivitar 285
- 4X Pocketwizard Multimax
- 4X Dual flash brackets
- Umbrella holders, mini ballheads and other lightstand accessories
- Many miles of cables and splitters and spares cables.
- Gaffer tape and flash gels
Yooo.. That is alot of equipment..;) How long have u been taking photos of freeskiers?
Started about 3 years ago. First year i just used the 285s, then i got the ranger in the second year. This year i swapped out the 285s for the SB80DXs but keep the 285 as backup and occasional use when i need a 5th or 6th small flash.
How do you carry your two head reflectors when you take the plane?
Good question seb. The small one is no problem, its quite sturdy as its pretty small, just throw it in the pelican case. The large one is pretty flimsy so you have to be careful. What i do is i wedge my ski helmet inside it so that you cant crush it flat, then i just jam as much other stuff in it as possible, anything will do. Even doing that though it rarely comes out the same shape at the other end but they are remarkably resilient. They bend back very nicely and really there is no need for them to be perfectly round. Once i fell on mine while skiing and crushed it nearly totally flat but still managed to get it back into shape again.
Thks for your answer! I will try this way.
Or maybe I will take it in the plane as a hat haha!
