Just a few days before CES 2012 and the specs for the Nikon D4 have been accidentally leaked on a website (reported but not named by Nikon Rumors). They also published a photo of the new Nikon D4. Given that we already know all about the Canon 1D X we can now take a proper look at latest and greatest from the big two. Nikon unveiled their new mirrorless system at the end of Summer 2011. Alongside the V1 and J1 camera they also launched the first four lenses in the new 1 Nikkor range.

So hear they are then. Finally. Nikon has taken a step into the lucrative mirrorless camera market that has so far been dominated by Panasonic, Olympus and Sony. It’s not really been a secret they were on their way, we’ve known about the size of the sensor for some time, but to their credit Nikon plugged the holes in the leaky ship and managed to keep all actual images of the cameras away from the internet prior to launch. Something that has become rarer and rarer in the last couple of years.

Several websites have leaked information on a new Nikon DSLR that was to be “officially” launched later this evening it would seem. The Nikon D5100. As with most of the recent new DSLRs like the Canon T3i , the Nikon now has an articulated LCD screen on the back and of course shoots full 1080p video. They have also revealed the new ME-1 hotshoe microphone.
Last week I went through 10 new years resolutions for 2011 and today I want to put down some predictions for how 2011 will shape up. I haven’t done this before, but if nothing else it’ll be fun to look back on in a years time!
