Think Tank Set To Launch First 4-Wheeled Camera Bag - The Airport 4-Sight

This morning Think Tank have announced a new first of its kind camera bag. The 4-Sight features 4 wheels on the base similar to many current carry on luggage bags, designed to make it even easier to get your gear through the airport. The bag will begin shipping in May for a cost of $299 and readers of my site can as always receive a free gift when shopping through my links to Think Tank products. The 4-Sight appears to be somewhat similar in size to the Airport Airstream which is my current roller bag of choice and will hold a couple of cameras and 3 or 4 lenses. This time they are also including a cable tidy bag as well. Interestingly the opening will swing to the side this time instead of downwards like all their other rollers and there appears to be no provision at all for carrying a laptop, assuming you have a separate shoulder bag. Despite having 4 wheels though they have clearly made some weight savings in other areas as the 4-sight weighs in a little less than the Airstream does.

Today Think Tank Photo has revealed a completely new re-design of their extremely popular, dare I say industry standard, Modular lineup. I have previously reviewed the Modular Skin Set and found it to be fantastic for sports and event work so I’m excited to see the improvements they have made.

Two Lineups Updated

With this update Think Tank are releasing the Modular Rotation System and Modular Rotation System Skin™ Components. These are the same two systems that we had previously but with updated pouches across the board. The Skin system as I mentioned lacks the padding of the regular Modular System which makes it great for indoor work such as weddings and also great for packing if you have to fly with your gear. It all packs down very flat and doesn’t weigh much at all. If you need a little more protection then the Modular system is going to be best for you.

I’m not sure I can ever remember Think Tank having a SALE before so this warranted a quick post. Especially since I’ve just reviewed one of the things they have put on sale. Last month I went to France to shoot the 24 Heures du Mans in Le Mans and before I left I grabbed a few extra items to make my assignment a little easier. First up was the Think Tank Hydrophobia 300-600 V2 rain cover which I have already reviewed HERE. The next think I wanted to do was take a look at the Think Tank Skin system to carry some additional items around with me while I was shooting. A lot of you know me for my winter sports photography and for that I use a variety of specialized bags from F-Stop but this time I needed a belt based system more suitable for event photography. Think Tank’s selection of bags and solutions for photojournalists and sporting event photographers is unrivaled and they have a couple of belt systems, the Modular Components and the Skin Components. The Skin lineup is essentially a less padded version of the Modular components with a few additional features. The idea here is that once your gear is safely transported to the location of your shoot you don’t really need bulky padding and that allows you to be a little less encumbered. Packing the Skin Components into your travel bag is also pretty easy as they fold completely flat. Currently there are 5 different components into the in the set as well as the Skin belt. I didn’t need the full set for this trip so I grabbed a Skin 50 , a Skin 75 and the Skin Belt. Continue reading »

Think Tank Announces Retrospective 5 Shoulder Bag

Think Tank have added to their highly popular Retrospective series today with the announcement of the Retrospective 5 shoulder bag available in either black or pinestone. I personally have the Retro 10 bag and it’s a fantastic bag for carry around town with a camera and couple of lenses. The material is super tough and wear resistant and there are plenty of pockets for all the bits and pieces you need. This new Retro 5 is designed for a small DSLR and a couple of lenses or a full Micro 4/3 kit or maybe a Leica M9 or some such rangefinder camera. Looks great!
