		<description>I shot some with a monopod this winter, definitely saves time in lining up the background and you still are able to pan a little if the rider goes huge like you said.  I always find if shooting handheld I pan a little without meaning to as I follow the rider with my eye.  So monopod works for me if I have it with me.</description>

		<description>Good question Kev.  Manual focus all the time, I just dont trust auto enough.  If they are coming towards me, I focus in the middle and stop down enough to hold DOF , and if they are side on its easy as they will all be in focus if you focus on a point beneath their trajectory.</description>
