Acually Eirch, I feel just the opposite. Videographers for years have been stuck with extremely small chips in there cameras. Not only this, but most videocameras do not let you remove and switch lenses. For anyone who has been wanting to be able to do rack focus changes and get beautiful bokeh, video in DSLRs is a dream. The closest videocamera I can think of that does similarly is the Red One but that runs about $18,000 for just the body and is not the kind of camera you can easily run with just one person.

Granted, there is much that could be improved on canon's DSLR video technology... I've found it very difficult to accurately focus in quickly changing environments such concerts. Hopefully they improve the autofocusing when they take their next step.

I did misread it. You're right. The nikon is behind in that aspect. I still have yet to see the need for video in a photo camera though. To me, it's a waste of resources to design video into a photo camera when those resources could be better used to further the improvement of the photos.

Putting video into a pro camera like this just doesn't make sense to me. Sure it's helpful but I can only see it more for a consumer and less professional and isn't this supposed to be on the professional end of the spectrum?

Erich i think you need to re-read what i wrote.....
"several steps behind in this respect " I was referring to the video features. You can't possibly argue that Nikons video features aren't behind Canons.
"If you want to shoot video as well as stills, the Canon choice is a no-brainer."

And if you think that Canon couldn't have made it full frame if they wanted to then you are naive. They are perfectly capable of making full frame cameras (5dMKII and 1dsMKIII) I'm sure they have their reasons for not doing so and I'm sure they did their research with the people who will actually buy this camera. Not just with the website fanboys who actually never use the equipment they love to bitch about. Those that really think full frame is a necessity for sports shooting have the option of the d3s. Personally I can't see the benefits of it for this type of camera

I would agree this seems like a great camera but saying Nikon is several steps behind is just dumb. This isn't even a full frame camera!
