Great little post! I just got myself a 1TB Western Digital external hard drive a couple of days ago. It just kind of hit me one day that I really need to back my shit up. It seems like 1TB is huge but I can definitely see myself filling it up pretty quick.
Anyone who hasn't got atleast a external hard drive, DO IT!

Keep up the good work Dan
Peace

I have a linux server I use for my web design/development which has Samba set up on a 350GB drive. I currently use that to store all my photos. I am currently looking at NAS setups and was recommended looking at the FreeNAS software though I would have to purchase some more drives.

With photography I would say Redundancy is your best friend.

People have been telling me that backing up to DVD is a bit meh because they have like a 5 year life span on the discs.

Though I do need to figure out something soon.. Shooting in RAW + JPG the files tend to be a bit large. Think my RAW files are 15MB each?
